Visual Studio for Mac is available to install
Install the xterm package, then in a gnome-terminal session do the following: $ unset GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID $ monodevelop This will cause monodevelop to use xterm as its external terminal and all should be well.
Visual Studio for Mac builds on top of MonoDevelop, adding open sourced internals from Visual Studio and many new extensions to support new workloads. To get the latest available version, switch to the Stable updater channel after installing.
Supported on macOS 10.11 and later.
